Description
Who We Are đ¨đŚ
Tetra Digital Group is Canadaâs leading institutional digital asset infrastructure provider.
As Canadaâs first and only regulated digital asset custodian, weâve built the institutional foundation the market demands. Weâre backed by Urbana Corporation, National Bank, ATB Financial, Wealthsimple, Purpose Unlimited, Shakepay, Shopify, and Coinbase Ventures â some of the most consequential names in Canadian finance and fintech.
We operate two interconnected businesses: Tetra Trust, our regulated custody arm and CADD Digital, Canadaâs first Canadian dollar-backed stablecoin issued by a regulated financial institution. Itâs live on Base, Ethereum, and Tempo, with Solana next. CoinDesk and BNN Bloomberg covered it as the arrival of Canadaâs first regulated digital dollar. đ
Hereâs the problem weâre solving: Canada clears roughly $424 billion every business day, and much of the retail payment infrastructure underneath it was designed in the 1980s. Batch windows. Cut-off times. Weekends off. Weâre building rails that settle continuously, programmatically, and under regulatory oversight.
Weâre a team of ~30 people. We punch well above our size, and so does the opportunity ahead.
The Role đ
You make sure the numbers behind Tetra hold up to anyone who checks them.
This is the senior finance seat at Tetra, and itâs genuinely hands-on. Youâll own accounting, FP&A, treasury, tax, audit, and regulatory reporting across all three businesses, and youâll be the CEO and boardâs partner on capital strategy, partnerships, M&A, and the next raise. Youâll work with a licensed trust company and a Canadian stablecoin company. Â
Youâll be building the finance function for a business model thatâs being defined in real time.
Youâll report to our [CEO], work directly with senior leaders of the firm, the board and its audit committee, and partner closely with our compliance, legal, engineering, and partnerships leads.
What Youâll Own đŻ
- Capital, deals, and the next raise. Own capital strategy across equity, debt, and strategic investment. Lead fundraising alongside the CEO, structure partnerships, M&A, and financing deals from first model to close, and manage the cap table and investor reporting for a shareholder base that includes some of Canadaâs biggest banks and fintechs. The data room is ready before anyone asks for it. đ°
- Board and executive partnership. Be the key financial advisor to the CEO, executive team, and board on planning, controls, budgeting and audit committee materials.
- Accounting and reporting under IFRS. That includes consolidated reporting across Tetraâs entities, crypto-asset accounting and fair value measurement, accounting for CADD in circulation and the reserves behind it, revenue recognition for custody and issuance fees, and intercompany agreements and transfer pricing.
- Reserve economics. Reserve income is a core part of how CADD makes money, and it moves with every rate decision. With operations, compliance, and risk, youâll shape the reserve investment policy: what we hold, where, at what duration, and with what liquidity buffer for weekend and holiday redemptions. Youâll model reserve income across rate scenarios and make sure the business still works when rates fall. đľ
- Treasury and liquidity. Account for corporate cash, runway, and liquidity across CAD, USD, and the digital assets among financial partners, counterparties, clients, issuers and holders.Â
- Regulatory capital and filings. Trust company capital and liquidity requirements, regulatory financial reporting and FINTRAC, and readiness for evolving regulations. You will own audit readiness and support SOC 1 and SOC 2 Type II work and reserve attestations.
- Controls. đ Design internal controls built for a regulated crypto business and a Canadian trust company, including, but not limited to, segregation of duties, maker-checker on payments and wallet movements.Â
- Tax, done right the first time. Corporate income tax, GST/HST on digital asset and payment services, SR&ED, transfer pricing, and the new crypto-asset information reporting arriving under the Crypto-Asset Reporting Framework (CARF).
- Planning and Analysis. đ Budget, rolling forecast, and scenario models for each business line. Pricing, partner economics, and unit economics to propel our growth.
- Finance systems, automated. đ¤ An ERP we wonât outgrow, a crypto sub-ledger, automated reconciliations, and AI-enabled reporting, and analytics. Â
- The team that comes next. Youâll start with a small team and do plenty of the work yourself. As Tetra grows, youâll hire, mentor, and lead a growing team.
What Weâre Looking For đ
- 10+ years of progressive finance leadership, ideally a blend of experience in both regulated industries and high-growth startups, fintech, and institutional financial services.
- Accountability for a finance function whose numbers were audited and regulated.
- A bachelorâs degree in business administration, finance, or accounting, and a CPA or equivalent professional designation.Â
- Advanced IFRS, regulatory financial reporting, internal controls, and audit readiness.Â
- Capital and deal experience. Equity and debt raises, M&A structuring and due diligence, negotiations, and cap table management across complex corporate entities.
- Multi-currency treasury, liquidity management and forecasting, and counterparty, operational, and regulatory risk assessment experience.
- Digital asset fluency. Digital-asset accounting and fair value, integrating crypto and fiat rails, and how a stablecoinâs reserves, supply, and redemptions show up in the financial statements.
- Canadian payments fluency. Interac, Lynx, EFT, and the Real-Time Rail, plus emerging standards like ISO 20022 and the Travel Rule.
- Design thinking to build and improve billing systems, crypto sub-ledgers, and processes.Â
- Strategic thinking. You align finance strategy with where the business is going, and you can see how the finance function needs to scale before it breaks.
- Strong communication skills. You can present to a board, client, regulator, and investor in the same week.
- Comfort with ambiguity. Youâve led in fast-moving environments where the standards were still being written, and you built frameworks anyway.
Digital asset experience matters here, but it doesnât have to come from a crypto company. If youâve led finance at a bank, a payments processor, or a regulated fintech, and you understand how custody and stablecoins work, we welcome your application.
Extra points for: đ
- Youâve led finance through a SOC 2 Type II, a reserve attestation, or a provincial or federal regulatory examination
- Youâve worked on stablecoin, e-money, prepaid, or safeguarded-funds issuance, where every unit outstanding has to be backed by something real
- Youâve run finance inside a trust company, bank, or other prudentially regulated institution, including regulatory capital reporting
- Youâve completed capital raising efforts with strategic investors, banks and VCs
- Experience with APIs, smart contracts, and blockchain analytics tools
- Youâve built a finance function from scratch, including the first real ERP and sub-ledger implementation, not just run one someone else built
- Youâve handled crypto tax and information reporting, including CARF readiness
What You Get đź
- đ° [$210,000â$265,000] base salary, commensurate with experience
- 𦷠Comprehensive health, dental, and paramedical coverage
- đą $1,000 annual learning budget for finance, accounting, and digital asset certifications, courses, and conferences [plus professional designation dues]
- đ˘ 3 days a week in office, with periodic travelÂ
- đ Generous vacation allowancesÂ
- đ¨đŚ A front-row seat to Canadaâs digital dollar with a small, high-calibre team where your work is visible, your contributions are felt, and your growth is real
A Note on Fit đ§
Tetra moves fast and the expectations are high. If youâve spent your career waiting for a fully defined job description before getting started, this isnât the right fit. If you are a leader who sees an opportunity and executes, who thrives in ambiguity, and takes ownership of outcomes, this role was built for you.
If that sounds energizing rather, weâd love to hear from you. đ¤
Compensation
$210,000.00 - $260,000.00 per year
