Who You Are
We’re seeking a dynamic Head of Business Development (BD) & Sales to supercharge our revenue engine and drive exponential growth in a market poised for takeoff. Reporting to the Chief Revenue Officer (CRO), you’ll be an individual contributor, focused on owning the full-cycle sales process, from lead generation to deal closure, while building a robust pipeline and delivering white-glove client experiences that forge lasting partnerships. What You’ll Be Selling
In this role, you'll be driving customer acquisition for Tetra Trust's comprehensive suite of qualified custody and escrow services. As Canada's first regulated digital asset custodian, Tetra offers institutional-grade custody solutions including hot and cold wallet support with 24/7 access, on-demand withdrawals, and flexible withdrawal windows. You'll also be selling our newest innovation, Tetra Unity—an institutional-grade orchestration platform that helps financial institutions, payment providers, asset managers, and corporates seamlessly integrate best-in-class digital asset services. These solutions serve a diverse client base including corporate entities, high-net-worth individuals, institutional investors, asset managers, market makers, trading platforms, family offices, and miners, all seeking secure, compliant, and accessible digital asset custody.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Lead Generation & Networking: Leverage your sales and communication expertise to generate high-quality leads through channels like LinkedIn, cold email/call outreach, industry events, digital marketing, and referrals. Attend conferences, webinars, and meetups to boost Tetra’s visibility and connect with potential clients.
  • Prospecting & Client Acquisition: Actively drive new business by prospecting, identifying, and converting leads into clients. Build a strong pipeline targeting crypto and fintech firms, financial institutions, asset/wealth managers, mid-to-large corporates, and high-net-worth individuals. Manage the full sales cycle to close high-value deals.
  • Presentations, Proposals & Communications: Craft compelling sales materials, proposals, and written communications to accelerate pipeline growth and showcase Tetra’s value proposition.
  • Contract Negotiation & Deal Closure: Lead commercial negotiations to secure executed agreements, collaborating with operations and compliance teams to ensure regulatory compliance and alignment with company policies.
  • Strategic Business Development: Partner with the CRO to develop and execute business development strategies aligned with Tetra’s strategic plan. Identify new market opportunities, partnerships, and trends to guide growth efforts.
  • Relationship Management: Build and maintain long-term relationships with key clients, partners, and stakeholders. Serve as the primary point of contact for high-value accounts, ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction and seamless onboarding.
  • Sales Strategy: Collaborate with the CRO to design and implement sales strategies, pricing models, and go-to-market plans that align with business goals and drive campaign success.
  • Sales Analytics & Reporting: Track and report on sales activities, performance, and key metrics (e.g., pipeline status, conversion rates, revenue forecasts). Provide regular updates to senior management on progress toward targets.
  • Collaboration with Product & Operations: Work closely with product and operations teams to align offerings with market needs, share customer feedback to refine products, and develop marketing materials to support BD efforts.
  • Market Insights & Competitor Analysis: Stay ahead of trends in crypto, blockchain, and DeFi. Provide actionable insights to the product team based on customer needs and competitive intelligence.

What We’re Looking For
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, or a related field. An MBA or relevant certification is a plus.
Work Experience:
  • 10+ years of combined experience in B2B business development, sales, or client acquisition in institutional financial services, fintech/software, crypto, or blockchain industries.
  • 4+ years of experience with digital assets, ideally in an institutional context (e.g., ETP/ETF, trading platforms/OTC, custodians, or tech vendors).
  • Proven track record of generating leads, negotiating contracts, and closing high-value deals.
  • Demonstrated success in B2B customer acquisition, building relationships with small, medium, and large clients across financial services, fintech, and digital asset sectors.
  • Familiarity with the institutional crypto ecosystem, blockchain technology, digital currencies, and decentralized finance (DeFi).
Skills & Competencies:
  • Deep knowledge of the digital asset/crypto ecosystem.
  • Exceptional writing and analytical skills to create compelling sales materials and presentations.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills to influence stakeholders and close deals effectively.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize a large opportunity pipeline.
  • High business acumen with expertise in analyzing market trends, customer needs, and competitors.
  • Experience thriving in a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment.
  • Proven ability to work with institutional clients (e.g., banks, asset managers, hedge funds).
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Technical Skills:
  • Proficient in sales and marketing tools (e.g., HubSpot, Apollo/Seamless/Lusha/Clay, Google Docs/Sheets, Word/Excel, e-Signature solutions, ChatGPT/Claude).
  • Familiarity with digital marketing strategies, lead generation, and sales funnel optimization.
