Description

Who We Are
Tetra Unity is transforming how financial institutions deploy and manage digital asset operations at scale. Backed by leading investors including Wealthsimple, Shopify, National Bank, and ATB Financial, we empower institutions to build the digital asset infrastructure that fits their business.

Our composable architecture brings together speed, flexibility, and enterprise-grade security, while maintaining full regulatory compliance and the adaptability to evolve alongside the technology landscape. With the majority of financial institutions and service providers now reporting active or planned digital asset initiatives, Tetra Unity sits at the epicentre of a generational shift reshaping global finance.

The Opportunity
We're looking for a seasoned Senior Full Stack Developer who is ready to roll up their sleeves, lead by example, and grow into a pivotal leadership role on our technology team.

This role begins as a hands-on development and technical lead position. For the right person, it will evolve into a close partnership with the CTO, shaping our technical direction, architecture, and team growth as the company scales.

You will lead our existing development team, providing mentorship, guidance, and clear direction while continuing to contribute as a builder. If you love shipping great products, developing the engineers around you, and want a leadership path that doesn't require stepping away from code, this is your opportunity.

Location & Work Model
This role is based in Toronto, with a structured hybrid model of a minimum of three days per week in the office. During the first three months of onboarding, the role requires full-time in-office presence to support immersion, relationship-building, and team integration.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Take ownership of critical features and systems across the stack (frontend, backend, infrastructure)
  • Lead our existing team of developers and provide day-to-day technical oversight
  • Collaborate directly with the CTO to design and deliver scalable, performant solutions
  • Mentor other developers and promote engineering excellence and knowledge sharing
  • Contribute to architectural decisions and long-term technical strategy
  • Establish and maintain coding best practices, development standards, and technical documentation
  • Help drive hiring, onboarding, and the evolution of our engineering team
  • Leverage AI tools and techniques to automate tasks, enhance efficiency, and optimize development processes
  • Gradually step into a broader leadership role as trust, experience, and team size grow

Our Current Tech Stack
(This stack will continue to evolve — your input will help shape it)
  • Frameworks & Languages: React 18, TypeScript, Go (Golang)
  • Bundler & Dev Tools: Vite, SWC, Jest, ESLint, Prettier
  • Routing & State: React Router, React Hooks
  • Styling: Sass, CSS Modules, Vite SVGR for SVG components
  • Database: PostgreSQL using Kysely (type-safe SQL query builder)
  • Infrastructure: AWS

What We’re Looking For
  • 5+ years of full stack development experience with strong proficiency in modern JavaScript/TypeScript and backend development
  • Hands-on experience with blockchain technologies and decentralized systems
  • Experience leading small teams or acting as a tech lead on complex projects
  • Strong understanding of scalable architecture, clean code practices, and CI/CD workflows
  • Confident in making architectural and technical decisions and explaining trade-offs
  • Clear communicator who thrives in collaborative environments
  • Self-driven and eager to take ownership, but comfortable asking for help when needed
  • Excited about growing into a technical leadership role
  • Comfortable exploring and working with new languages and paradigms like Go (Golang)

Nice to have
  • Experience working in fintech, Web3, or regulated environments
  • Exposure to secure application design and infrastructure practices
  • Prior startup or fast-growth company experience
  • Familiarity with design systems or building reusable component libraries
