Tetra Trust Job Board

Strategy & Operations Associate

hybrid
Toronto, Ontario, Canada .
full-time . May 4, 2026

Description

Who We Are
Tetra Digital Group is Canada's leading institutional digital asset infrastructure provider, and right now we're at an inflection point five years in the making.

As Canada's first and only regulated digital asset custodian, we've built the institutional foundation the market now demands. We're backed by Wealthsimple, National Bank, ATB Financial, Purpose Unlimited, Shakepay, Shopify, and Coinbase Ventures, some of the most consequential names in Canadian finance and fintech.

Tetra operates three interconnected businesses: Tetra Trust, our regulated custody arm; Tetra Unity, a platform connecting custodians, risk systems, and data networks; and CADD, a compliant on-chain payment rail backed 1:1 by Canadian dollars.

About the Role
This role exists to make our COO measurably more effective.

You'll be the analytical engine of the COO's office, bringing capacity and structured thinking to whatever moves the business forward in any given week. Strategy work, financial modelling, market and competitive research, board materials, internal reviews, partner diligence, and ad hoc problems that need a sharp mind on them. If a question requires structured thinking, clean numbers, and a credible answer, it lands on your desk.

The COO will set direction in broad strokes and trust you to scope, structure, and deliver. You'll come back with the right answer, in the right depth, in the right format, without three rounds of clarifying questions.

Who You Are
You come from investment banking, management consulting, corporate development, or a similarly analytical environment, likely three to six years post-undergrad, or one to four years post-MBA. You know how to take a vague brief and turn it into a deliverable that's correct, clear, and credible the first time.

You're strong with numbers. You can build a model, stress-test the assumptions, and explain it in plain language to someone who has never seen it before. You catch your own errors before they ship. Your slides have a point of view, not just data on them.

You're an analytical thinker. You don't accept surface-level answers. You go to source data, you triangulate, and you challenge the framing of the question if the framing is wrong.

You're assertive. Not abrasive, assertive. You drive your work forward, you make calls within your scope, and you push back constructively when you see something off. You don't sit on a problem waiting to be told what to do with it.

You can take a one-line ask and translate it into a credible workplan. You know the difference between a 20-hour answer and a 200-hour answer, and you choose the right one for the question being asked.

You write and present at executive standard. Materials you produce can go to the CEO, the board, or an external partner without rewriting. You're equally comfortable on a page, in a deck, and standing in front of a room.
You're comfortable in a high-candor environment. Tetra's leadership communicates directly and expects the same.

What You'll Own
Analysis and Decision Support

  • Build financial models, scenario analyses, and unit economics views to support COO-level decisions across Tetra Trust, Tetra Unity, and CADD
  • Pressure-test business cases, vendor proposals, and internal investment requests
  • Translate complex data into clean, decision-ready outputs

Research and Market Intelligence

  • Conduct primary and secondary research on competitors, partners, market structure, and regulatory developments in Canadian digital assets and adjacent fintech
  • Synthesize industry intelligence into briefs the COO can act on
  • Maintain a current, structured view of the competitive landscape

Strategic and Operational Initiatives

  • Scope and execute discrete projects on behalf of the COO, process improvements, organizational design questions, cross-functional initiatives, special projects
  • Drive these from blank page to executive recommendation
  • Coordinate with Operations, Finance, Legal, Compliance, and Technology to gather inputs and pressure-test conclusions

Executive Materials and Communications

  • Prepare board-quality decks, briefing notes, and memos for the COO and leadership team
  • Support investor updates, board materials, and external presentations
  • Hold the quality bar on anything that leaves the COO's office

Operating Rythym and Follow-Through

  • Attend select meetings and working groups on behalf of the Office of the COO; deliver clear, structured readouts and recommendations
  • Track open commitments, decisions, and actions across the COO's priorities, and drive them to closure
  • Surface emerging issues and opportunities ahead of the curve

What We're Looking For

  • 3–6 years post-undergrad, or 1-4 years post-MBA, at a top-tier investment bank, management consulting firm, corporate development team, or similar analytical environment
  • Demonstrated ability to scope and deliver against broad mandates with limited supervision
  • Strong financial modelling and data analysis skills (advanced Excel; SQL or Python a plus)
  • Excellent presentation skills, you build decks that lead, not decks that decorate
  • Excellent written and oral communication; comfort presenting to senior leadership
  • Strong research instincts; you know where to look, how to triangulate, and when an answer is good enough to ship
  • Operational maturity to handle confidential and time-sensitive work without supervision
  • Adaptability and pace; the role will evolve as Tetra grows

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with Canadian financial services, digital assets, payments, or capital markets
  • Exposure to regulated environments (banking, custody, securities, insurance)
  • CFA, CPA, or equivalent in progress or completed

What's In It For You

  • $130,000–$150,000 base salary, commensurate with experience and background
  • Performance-based stock option grants, earned by delivering in the role.
  • Comprehensive benefits package
  • Direct exposure to executive decision-making at a company at an inflection point
  • A small, high-calibre team where your work is visible and your output shapes the business
  • A front-row seat to Canada's digital asset transformation, a rare opportunity to be part of something that doesn't exist yet

Before You Apply
This role is in-office in Toronto, five days a week through the three-month onboarding period, hybrid thereafter with three days in office.
We move fast. We don't slow down for a process that doesn't earn its keep. If you've spent the last two or three years building decks for clients you'll never see again, and you're ready to put your analytical horsepower behind a single business you can shape, this is that role.

If that sounds energizing rather than exhausting, we'd like to hear from you.

How to Apply
Submit your resume along with thoughtful answers to the application questions. We're not looking for perfect answers, we're looking for honest ones. Tell us who you are, what drives you, and why this role at this moment makes sense for you. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.

Tetra is committed to building a diverse and inclusive team. We encourage candidates from all backgrounds to apply and will provide accommodation throughout the hiring process upon request.
