Tetra Trust is looking for a Business Development Representative (BDR) to join our team. Reporting to the Head of Business Relationships & Sales, the BDR will be responsible for driving revenue growth through direct sales efforts, building strategic client relationships, and executing the business development strategy. You will be a key player in expanding the company’s customer base, identifying new opportunities, and ensuring long-term partnerships. This role requires a mix of sales leadership, client-facing experience, and the ability to execute  effective sales strategies.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams (including product, engineering and operations) to ensure that the company meets its growth targets while maintaining a focus on customer satisfaction and relationship-building.

This role is  based in Toronto with a structured hybrid work model of at least 3 days in the office per week. This role requires a full-time office work model during the first month for training.

Key Responsibilities


1. Lead Generation & Prospecting
  • Identify and research prospective clients within the fintech, digital asset, and financial services ecosystem (e.g., exchanges, custodians, asset managers, fintech startups).
  • Utilize CRM tools, social media, events, and market intelligence to develop and maintain a robust pipeline of qualified leads.

2. Client Engagement & Outreach
  • Initiate and maintain contact with prospective clients through cold calls, emails, social media, and networking.
  • Clearly articulate the company’s value proposition, product offerings, and differentiators to various stakeholders (e.g., operations, compliance, and executive teams).

3. Sales Support & Collaboration
  • Qualify inbound leads and set up meetings or demos for senior sales or partnership teams.
  • Work closely with marketing and product teams to align messaging and campaign strategy with market feedback and prospect needs.

4. Market Intelligence
  • Monitor trends in the digital asset, DeFi, and fintech space, including competitor activity, regulatory developments, and emerging technologies.
  • Provide regular feedback to product and strategy teams to help refine offerings and improve market fit.

5. CRM Management & Reporting
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all sales activities, lead statuses, and prospect communications in the CRM system.
  • Generate reports and insights to support pipeline forecasting and strategic planning.

6. Event Participation & Networking
  • Attend industry events, webinars, and conferences to represent the brand, generate leads, and deepen market knowledge.
  • Build relationships with ecosystem partners, including VCs, technology vendors, and other financial institutions.

7. Compliance Awareness
  • Understand and communicate key regulatory considerations relevant to digital assets, custody, and fintech operations (e.g., AML, KYC, securities law).
  • Coordinate with internal compliance teams to ensure outreach aligns with legal and regulatory requirements.

What we are looking for 


  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Experience: 
  • 1-2 + years of combined experience in business development, sales, or client acquisition within the institutional financial sector, FinTech/ software, crypto, or blockchain industries.
  • Familiarity with the crypto ecosystem, blockchain technology, digital currencies, and decentralized finance (DeFi).
  • Skills & Competencies:
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as a part of the team.  
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills with the ability to influence stakeholders and close deals effectively.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple sales opportunities and clients simultaneously.
  • High level of business acumen, with the ability to analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitors.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment.
  • Experience working with institutional clients, such as banks, asset managers, or hedge funds.

  • Technical Skills:
  • Proficient in CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot), sales intelligence (ZoomInfo, Apollo, etc.) and sales analytics software.
  • Ability to originate prospecting lists, segment outreach data and report on conversion and response rates.
  • Familiarity with digital marketing strategies, lead generation, and sales funnel optimization.


Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of digital assets.
  • Multilingual skills or experience working in international markets is a plus.
  • Demonstrated interest in fintech, digital assets, or financial services
